Officers
President
Amanda McCourt is currently a junior in Mechanical Engineering with a minoring Technology Entrepreneurship. Amanda recently transferred from the College of Southern Maryland with an Associates of Science in Engineering. In the summer of 2016, Amanda will be interning as a project manager at Whiting-Turner. In her free time, Amanda likes to play soccer, continue crafty projects, and participate in pageants. Her most recent pageant was Miss Teen Maryland United States where she wore the title of Miss Teen Southern Maryland United States 2015 and placed first runner up.
Vice President
Thao Nguyen is currently a senior pursuing his mechanical engineering degree with a minor in nuclear engineering. His interests includes robotics and alternative renewable energy. He is currently pursuing an interest in researching more about hydrogen fuel cell and how it can impact the world.
Treasurer
Saul Schaffer is a freshman with interests in nuclear physics, science communication and public health. He is involved with the Gemstone Student Council, the professional engineering fraternity Theta Tau and is the ground floor RA for Ellicott Hall.
Event Planner
Luke Dickerson is a senior Mechanical Engineering Major and Computer Science Minor. His experience includes volunteering at Makerspace in Greenbelt MD and doing independent research in electromagnetic propulsion. He is part of the UMD Virtual Reality Club and the UMD Jiu Jitsu Club.
Event Planner
Mike Rogers is a junior in mechanical engineering.with a minor in nuclear engineering. He is currently pursuing an interest in international engineering worldwide through Engineers Without Borders to serve the needs of disadvantaged communities through engineering projects.
Lounge Chair
Sebastian Arrazola is a senior whose interests are in vehicle dynamics, internal combustion, and mechatronic systems. Before coming to the University of Maryland, he worked as a mechanic for two years while attending community college. His main research interests are hydrogen internal combustion, 3-D printing, and autonomous drone systems.
Secretary
Ars-Vita Islamia Alamsyah transferred to the University of Maryland in Fall 2015. Previously, Ars studied for two and a half years at Institut Teknologi Bandung. She joined the Unilever Leadership Internship Program in Summer 2015, working with the supply chain team at the Tea Based Beverages Factory. She is also involved in PERMIAS DC (Indonesian Student Association) as the University of Maryland representative.
Webmaster
Phil Royce is a sophomore Mechanical Engineering student with minors in Project Management and General Business. Previously a Business major, Phil switched to Mechanical Engineering during his second semester. Outside of ASME, he is very active with his Scholars Program where he is both a mentor and a teaching assistant.
Public Affairs Officer
Ashley (Yonit) Ollech is a freshman in mechanical engineering. She is also a student in the DCC honors college, and is involved with the UMD chapter of Tamid.
Faculty Advisor
Dr. Jaydev P. Desai is currently a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and a Member of the Maryland Robotics Center at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMCP). His research interests are primarily in the area of medical robotics, image-guided surgical robotics, grasping, and cancer diagnosis at the micro-scale.
